Honey Yogurt and Chocolate Waffle

Enjoy this delicious honey and yogurt chocolate waffle for your Valentine Day breakfast !

This recipe is adapted from William Sonoma’s recipe for honey yogurt waffle : http://www.williams-sonoma.com/m/recipe/honey-yogurt-waffles.html. I have added a chocolate flavor, made it eggless and also added fresh cinnamon toasted apples

Serves : 6

  • 3 Tbs. unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 2 tsp. double-acting baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 cup vanilla yogurt or plain or any flavor you like
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 apple peeled chopped and tossed in 1 tbsp butter and cinnamon

  • Preheat your waffle iron
  • Chop one Apple into fine pieces and toss it in butter until soft. Sprinkle cinnamon and mix well. Keep aside
  • Melt the butter and keep aside
  •  In a large bowl, mix all the dry ingredients – the all purpose flour, whole wheat flour, oats, baking powder, baking soda and cinnamon
  • In another bowl mix all the wet ingredients – honey, butter, yogurt and milk until well blended
  • Pour the liquid ingredients over the dry ingredients and whisk until just combined
  • Fold in the chocolate chips and cinnamon toasted apples
  • Heat your waffle maker and follow the instructions to make the waffle. I use a cuisinart waffle maker and these are the steps I follow:
    • Preheat the waffle maker and wait until the green light turns on
    • Pour 2 ladles of the batter in the center and close the lid of the waffle maker ( The batter spreads itself pretty well, I don’t need to spread it before hand with a spatula )
    • Choose the desired browning setting and wait for the green light to turn on again

Serve waffles with maple syrup or honey or your favorite jam 😊 Enjoy the lovely morning !
