Vegetable Vermicelli Idly

Want to try out something different with vermicelli? Give this vermicelli idly a try, it’s delicious and packed with some veggies too !

Serves : 4


  • 200 g vermicelli
  • 40 g sooji rava 
  • 1 to 1 ½ cups of whipped curd;
  • 1/2 cup cooked mixed vegetable ( green peas, carrot)
  • 1 tsp minced ginger;
  • 2 chopped green chillies;
  • 1 sprig of finely chopped curry leaves;
  • 10 pieces of cashew nuts;
  • 2 tbsp ghee


  • Fry vermicelli for about 5 minutes and keep aside
  • Heat ghee, splutter mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves. Add cashewnuts, green chillies and ginger, and fry lightly. Add rava, mixed vegetables and stir fry
  • Remove from fire and add vermicelli. Pour in the curd. Add salt and keep aside for 5 minutes
  • Pour into greased idli pans, and steam for 5 minutes
  • Serve steaming hot vermicelli idlis with coconut chutney
