Whole Wheat Waffles


Yummy eggless whole wheat waffles adapted from Tarla Dalal’s recipe for waffles : http://www.tarladalal.com/Waffles-4031r. I did not use yeast and used whole wheat flour instead of all purpose flour ( maida ). You can enjoy these waffles with maple syrup or honey


  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
    1/2 cup corn flour
    1/2 tsp baking powder
    6 tsp sugar
    1/2 cup melted butter
    2 cups milk
    a pinch of salt
  • Maple syrup or honey to serve with waffles


  • I used my stand mixer to prepare the batter
  • Sieve together wheat flour, corn flour and baking powder
  • Whisk the butter, sugar and milk so they they blend well
  • Add the flour mixture and mix well to a smooth batter. The batter should have a consistency similar to dosa atta, neither too thick or watery
  • Heat your waffle maker and follow the instructions to make the waffle. I use a cuisinart waffle maker and these are the steps I follow:
    • Preheat the waffle maker and wait until the green light turns on
    • Pour 2 ladles of the batter in the center and close the lid of the waffle maker ( The batter spreads itself pretty well, I don’t need to spread it before hand with a spatula )
    • Choose the desired browning setting and wait for the green light to turn on again

Your waffles are now ready
